Plot thread1: The Soap opera stuff -Continued from last season, Alex (Sam's kid) ran away to find his father. -Luka and Sam end up at the police station to report him missing -The police find some kid matching Alex's description in diabetic shock. Turns out it's not him, but Sam freaks anyways. -(Meanwhile...) We see Alex hop onto new pickup truck locked into a transport that's hauling new cars to dealerships (presumably still on his way to Colorado to find his Dad). Unknown to him, his Dad lives in Colorado, but he's a guest of the state. -After Sam finishes freaking (this time), she convinces Luka to go on a road trip to Colorado, figuring Alex will likely find his way there somehow. -Along the way, Sam freaks out some more, and after driving long hours without sleep, she starts falling asleep and WHAM! She kills Bullwinkle (and Luka's SUV). -A passing motorist stops to help, and after checking on her and Luka, he says he's got a rifle in the truck to put down the Moose. Before the animal rights nuts get all huffy, bear in mind that if you ever hit a large animal like that at highway speeds, the animal is going to die. It's just a matter of how much will be involved. -Side note: The SUV is in excellent shape for a Moose strike. Was she moving at 40Kph (school zone speed) when they hit? -Sam freaks out some more, and gets back in the truck to try and keep going. However, with the windshield smashed, the radiator smashed, and likely the engine suffered some damage, and had bits of moose meat, entrails and antlers embedded in there, it's not going anywhere. The sound of a gunshot brings her out of her stupor. -They and the SUV end up in a small town nearby, where it's being repaired. Sam freaks again (I really should cut and paste that), and they end up hitchhiking to Colorado. -FINALLY. The cops find Alex. He's on a park bench somewhere in Colorado (hey! the kid made it to Colorado!). Somewhere along the way, Luka and Sam rent a car and go to find Alex. -Sam tells Alex about his Dad being in prison and they take him to visit him. At this point (and a few earlier than this that I failed to mention), Sam and Luka get into discussions/arguments about becoming a family together. Sam says something about not wanting anymore kids, and how she just wants her life back. -------------------------- Thread2: Back at the ER. The old gang returns, and this time, Abby, Neela and Ray are R2's, supervising interns. First Up: Ray. -Worst teacher ever! -Ray's pissed off that his students are asking too many questions -- and more specifically, that they're asking questions about stuff that he didn't study for. -Not much happens but this about sums up his turn at bat: -student asks about his choice of prescribed drug over another -Answer: we use it because...erm...it's a good drug. - Sad, but post secondary, teachers like him are the most common. -Gets pissed that Hela was asked to evaluate him. -Strike 3, he's out of there. Second up: Neela (nightshift) -She's got only one student, but he's a weird one, and he's a moron (remember that joke about "what do you call the guy that graduates last from med school" ?) - The ER is loaded, and Morris (the other moron) pulls rank and puts her in charge as he goes to get some sleep. Neela isn't impressed. - All night, the student keeps screwing up and when Neela corrects the error and brings it up, he apologizes and compliments her. Weird... It's like this guy's doing it on purpose to get attention or something. - She gets fed up with his screw ups after he nearly kills a patient. She confronts him about how he should pay more attention to what he's doing, and to knock off the Norman Bates act because it's creepy. He freaks and runs away crying. - Transition to day shift, and the hand off to abby. Morris crawls out the back somewhere, stretches and squawks at Neela for not clearing the board. Bet she's wishing for that moose rifle right about now. Batter Up! Abby: -OK, she's off to a good start with her students, her students like her and she's got that class participation thing going. -Alright, she lets her students loose on their own, checking in on them as needed and her students seem competant, if a little inexperienced. -She's also answering their questions. Wish I had profs like her. -It's going way too smoothly, we need to trip her up. -All right, Pratt orders her to step it up, as the board's still full and needs clearing. - She jumps into Superdoc mode shoving her students aside and doing the whole treat and street thing. Whoo-hoo! Done! The board is clean! - Pratt takes her down a notch by mentioning that this isn't her job anymore. Her job is now to teach, and she may have cleared the board, but the students didn't learn anything. -As long as this summary seems, nothing much really happens in this ep. I can really see why Sam dozed off. . 0
