No, it wasn't as good as in the past, but it most certainly did not "bomb" in the ratings. It certainly isn't going to be unceremoniously yanked midseason because of the premiere's ratings. 14.4 million viewers is not grounds for cancellation. Look, it won't be around much longer. It's in its twelfth season. Not many shows make it that long at all, certainly not with the overall ratings ER has maintained. It's had a good, long innings. Enjoy it for what it is.
