I've half a mind to chime in and point out the silliness of his position, given the fact that the RFC terminology hinders *far* more than it helps. Witness the perennial confusion between "resolver" and "stub resolver". You yourself are experiencing it. You're actually talking about the latter, not the former. Personally, I call it the "DNS client library". It appears to be an adequately straightforward description. I've not yet managed to confuse anyone by using it, at any rate.
