There have been more than one movie made about the incident - after all it is a 
matter of Japanese history.  (FWIW the VHS version of the one I mentioned is on 
two tapes due to length.)

Quite likely. :->  I also see I made a typo - the name of the movie is 
Chushingura (which translates to "A Conflict of Obligations" pretty much), and 
it was directed by Inagaki (I forget the rest of his name and this idiot DVD 
case doesn't mention the director's name.)  It's an excellent movie.
