I couldn't say for sure, but I'd imagine that you'd get more variations in 
the pattern from construction inaccuracies than from the actual design.

Hey, you can also build a Folded-J, using a piece of 300-ohm twin-lead!
But I prefer to ad a coaxial element for a little more gain.
