55d This is _my_ list of active servers as a result of my spider results using gspider. The results omit "0 selector" servers. This list is most likely incomplete however I feel its ~75% or better. If you plan on using gspider yourself Please read the following thread and understand that this spider does not follow robots.txt nor is it very friendly to the sites it spiders. http://lists.complete.org/gopher@complete.org/2004/05/msg00015.html.gz gspider seems to miss sites but this could be due to the sites it starts out with. More of a problem is that its slaves make requests on a single site continuously, one right after the other. One suggestion was to make the slaves sleep for a while after each request. I was going to try a single slave (I had used 17 on this spidering). It can overload a server or have the server ban you. Many thanks to Tim Fraser for gspider and letting me play with it! When there are a pair of files in the directory called, log and out preceded by a date code , those are the raw files produced on that date that will be processed into the current list. I am not planing on keeping an archive so the list will be maintained to most current. I will be leaving dead or 0 selectors on the list till next spidering at which time the files will be overwritten. A # in front of a selector means it was added to the current list. Chris 04/07/05 0
