                        What is M.I.M.E.?

        In addition to the other standards NetMail/3000 adheres to, it
also complies with the most revolutionary protocol to be added to
electronic mail since its inception; the MIME (Multipurpose Internet
Mail Extensions) protocol. This protocol defines a uniform way of
exchanging any type of data with other computer systems. MIME
works by adding delimiters to SMTP mail messages in such a way
that messages are still compatible with non-MIME SMTP mailers
(though any non-text parts wouldn't be readable), yet MIME capable
mail systems can automatically identify message attachments,
extract them, and make them easily available in their original form
to the recipient. MIME is gaining rapid acceptance among the world's
electronic mail community, and brings electronic communication
to new levels.

        MIME allows an electronic mail message to be transparently
divided into "pieces", where each piece can be any type of data
(text, graphics, audio, video, executable files, etc.) and those pieces
can all be extracted and reconstructed by any MIME compliant mail
system. Using this standard, NetMail/3000 users can attach files
from both their HP3000s and from local PCs, and assure they will be
transported intact and made available to their recipients. Imagine
attaching a spreadsheet with your quarterly sales figures to your
report and e-mailing it to your CEO. As an added feature,
NetMail/3000 users using Reflection for Windows can have
NetMail/3000 automatically extract any file their PC can deal with
and can HAVE NETMAIL/3000 LAUNCH THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION
-- AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THEY READ THE MESSAGE!

        Attach a voice message to your note, a spreadsheet to
your report, a video segment to that hot new marketing idea, and
send it off to another NetMail/3000 user, or any other MIME compatible
