I'm still sorting my thoughts on this. There have been communities in the past that focused on "simple software". First of all, I do not yet have a good definition of what that actually is. Second, these communities/projects are either dead or they have problematic members. I have a feeling that we have lost some of these values and the general way of thinking. One of the results is that I'm getting increasingly frustrated with many modern software. I need to come up with a good definition of what "simple software" is. (And I need a better name, because "simple software" can be abbreviated to "SS", which, well, yeah, no.) The whole thing needs to be framed in a positive, welcoming way -- because I think that, in the past, people focused too much on what is *bad* in *other* software. This leads to elitism and a condescending tone, which is not a good foundation.
