Guess it's time to repost these again (I knew they'd remain useful to someone).
No guarantees that they'll solve your problem (let me know), but it's worth a
try. The first is a termcap entry, the second a terminfo equivalent with some
additions (this should be obvious, really).

Disclaimer: I made these at least seven years ago, so I don't have to offer
support on them (more importantly, I can't even read termcap any more). ;)
Back when I actually used them, I did find some advantages over vt100
emulation. However, I now note that you said "ANSI" - you might try explicitly
specifying vt100 instead, on both ends.
