It covers the IIc+ as well as earlier models, and doesn't have ROM listings. My copy of the 2nd edition IIc reference, which came from Resource Central, is also missing the aforementioned pages (I hadn't noticed this before). I also have the first edition (the one Lazarus mentions), and judging from the surrounding text, the two missing pages in the second edition correspond to pages 268 and 269 of the first edition. They have no text, just a couple of figures. They are almost identical to figures 11-52 and 11-53 that appear on pages 400 and 401 of the second edition, except that different parts of the circuit are highlighted in the first diagram. The second diagram appears to be identical. The differences between the missing figure 11-48 and figure 11-52 are as follows: 1. The XDIR line (pin 4) is highlighted. 2. The GAMESW0/MSW* line (pin 7) has "MSW*" highlighted. It shows a connection to ground instead of a switch to +5V with a pull-down resistor. The upper path through "SJKa" is highlighted instead of the lower path. 3. The PDL1/YDIR line (pin 8) has "YDIR" highlighted, and the path goes straight through to the I7 pin, instead of the "DISCHARGE THRESHOLD" input of the 556 chip. There is no variable resistor shown connected to the pin. 4. The PDL0/XMOVE line (pin 5) has "XMOVE" highlighted, and the path goes to the IOU instead of the other half of the 556 chip. There is no variable resistor shown connected to the pin. 5. The YMOVE line (pin 9) is highlighted. 6. The GAMESW1/MOUSEID line (pin 1) has "MOUSEID" highlighted. It shows a connection to ground instead of a switch to +5V with a pull-down resistor. The upper path through "SJKb" is highlighted instead of the lower path, with the output going to the "CTRL" inputs of the 556. 7. The output signals from the 556 (going to I5 and I4 on the 8 to 1 MUX) are not highlighted. -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz Snail Mail: P.O. Box 27-103, Wellington, New Zealand
