       #TIL: You can't save a spreadsheet in the "Save as" dialog in #LibreOffice whose file name contains an asterisk ("*"). You don't get any error message nor an greyed out "Save" button. It just does nothing, even though the originally opened file has that asterisk in the name. Escaping via backslash also doesn't work. 🤬 🤌.oO( What happens when seasoned Unix #CLI users with strong experience in quoting and escaping try out a #GUI program… )

       @madalex @js: My favourite file name for a file to delete is:-rf <Ctrl-C>Because it requires every level of #quoting:* Application level quoting by prefixing the file name with ./ so that rm doesn't take -rf as option.* Shell quoting by #escaping or quoting the blank.* Input level quoting by pressing usually <Ctrl-V> (Emacsish: <Ctrl-Q>) before <Ctrl-C> to be able to enter a literal <Ctrl-C>.(That's something you just don't unlearn once it's in your brain. 🤓 )#CLI #Bash #Zsh #Shell

He created a symbolic link named index.html in his public_html directory pointing to /dev/null. Backup was done using tar. tar back then had a bug when applying ownership and permissions to symlinks in the archive. So after restoring a backup, only two users were still able to work: He and root. Because he owned /dev/null. 🤪

       Heute vor dem Abendessen noch für 'ne ¾h mit'm #BromptonElectricGLine #rausgeschafft, u.a. einen steilen Waldweg runter. War erstaunt, wie gut sich die #Conti #ContactUrban mit eher sparsamem Profil dort geschlagen haben. Waren zwar nur 12.4km, aber dafür 230hm.Und es hatte 'n Idiot in Blechbüchse, der meinte, mich in einer total unübersichtlichen Rechtskurve überholen zu müssen — natürlich auch viel zu eng. Hab "Abstand!" gebrüllt. Den nächsten Radfahrer hat er dann mit mehr Abstand überholt.
