       @ariadne yeah and our taxes are funding the genocide in Palestine so, yes we're all fascist, we are the baddies, but the solution is to find each other and make the place less shit, not to spend time arguing about which basic tools are too fascist to use. I'd love to not have to contribute to fascism by driving but I'm not getting that either.

       @ariadne tiny nit to pick: psychometric tests are perfectly good at measuring specific things about a person's brain function in a repeatable way. Having that kind of assessment if you have difficulties with work or school can change your life for the better.The completely careless ways educators, policy makers, the general public, and business people use the single numeric summaries of those tests is completely deranged and I agree with you completely there.IQ as a single number is bonkers.

       @fj incredible cultural insensitivity from Brussels, don't they know that the F150 is Ford's *smallest* truck in that line?Edit: for context the f-350 is 6.8 m long and 2.4 m wide, it's a common vanity truck in the US, I often see them without a scratch and with no dirt as though they'd never left the pavement (ah, the link is for the f-350 so ok) 🤣

I was mad at machine learning self-sabotaging itself by focusing on MSE (or adjacent) as the metric to evaluate all algorithms on (almost) all problem domains long before the LLM era and I'm just annoyed at how predictably the field failed to manage the LLM transition.

       @wolf480pl @david_chisnall it's always a mix but this specific situation just seems like they took the easy route for Windows and then didn't want to take the same route on Linux? Idk, you can almost always dump a binary in unless you're trying to do desktop integration (in which case flatpak would've worked fine done that's the target)

       @mntmn I had a problem like this exactly once and it turned out the monitor was shipped with broken EDID data and modifying that data was, in my case, the easiest way to fix it.I don't know if that's what's happening here but it sure sounds familiar so I thought I'd throw it out there.
