Subtoot: i think calling Tmux slopware over accepting trivial LLM code is a mistake. That feels like purity testing and I don't like that, it's also just pushing away people over not having exact same opinion.Hot take: it's okay to have different opinion, even on this. Yeah I do feel disappointed whenever I see someone accepting LLM vomits as normal, but throwing a fit every time someone even slightly says something positive about LLMs is a waste of both time and energy. You could spend that time advocating in a better way, instead of tearing other people apart for not fitting your image perfectly.

Daily reminder Canonical is happily abusing FOSS projects it happily takes from. Removing "Support GNOME" from both Settings app and donation notification is a bastard move. Not only they do absolutely nothing for upstream, in fact they often fight against us, but they even removed a fucking link to donate.gnome.org? @Gargron in those times internet wasn't widely spread and most people who used it were either technologically proficient or didn't knew what was going on and barely understood what was happening.Most people don't care how browsers and their computers work. They just want them to work. If your kitchen stove wasn't simple to use and you had to manually tinker with its insides to just make your food, would you actually use it? Interestingly, knowledge about how kitchen stoves work didn't shrink. People who are interested in the topic still learn it.

@Gargron you were interested in it enough to learn it.Part of the reason kitchen stoves are so easy to use is because people are not interested in how they work. If being an electrician was required just to heat up, e.g. lasagna that would be an easy way to make sure nobody would want to use them. And yet it doesn't really stop people from learning all this stuff.In fact that was the case with linux. For the longest time it wasn't exactly the most user friendliest OS. And that's why people moved back to Windows and MacOSSimplicity of use and limiting opportunities to learn are two different things

@kopper @fiore @julia @nelson@wetdry.world yeah and that abstraction doesn't need to support weird init systems nobody uses.Seriously, everyone here talks as if flatpak was about to cut off support from half of it userbase. Non-systemd users are minority of minorities, all major distros moved to systemd decade ago. At this point keeping support for them is holding the vast majority back.

@fiore @kopper that's bacause you're saying volunteers developing flatpak should maintain code for people who in most cases wouldn't use flatpak anyway.This is real maintaince burden and depending on systemd (largely for cgroups) solves many problems, for pretty much anyone, for flatpak/portal maintainers and for app devs.
