phew, just almost got got by a spam emaillooked like a authentic namecheap email that tells you your domain is about to expire, mentioned the precise domain name I have, arrived at the right time (early may is approximately when this one comes up for renewal). I clicked the link and went straight to a payment page. the lack of requirement of a login step threw me off guard and that made me look more closely and notice the incorrect domain name and the "Hi Dear," in the email salutation (something that I normally completely skip past while skimming!)

yooooooo signal finally isn't doing the thing where they generate one brand new backup file for every day you run a backup, so unless you have some sort of a "clear old signal backups" script you'll fill up your storage space with old backups 🤩they now seem to generate a bunch of small files and presumably they'll just add to those files as time goes on..?

I ordered a thing on ebay which is shipping from the UKthey gave me a tracking number that doesn't integrate with ebay's internal interface. it starts with MHI. no worries, I google "mhi tracking" and find Mail Handling International. I put the tracking number in the websiteit says my parcel is untracked (?!) but has a tracking number (???). okay, weird. I take this second tracking number, which starts with LTN, and google "lhn tracking" and end up at Landmark Global. I put the tracking number in the websiteit says my parcel has arrived from the UK to Belgium (???) and is en route to canada. fine, no problem. I notice that there's a link on the top of the page that says, "Delivery Partner: [link] Postal Carrier ›". this links to bpost.cloud with a tracking number that starts with UD. I don't put the tracking number in the website (it was already in the URL)this website has the most amount of detail yet. it shows my parcel being received at the UK, clearing customs, arriving at Belgium, passing a couple of checkpoints, and now being on the way to canadagreat!

update: apparently bpost.cloud delivered my package on friday... to Canada Post, who will do the final mile deliveryso there have been five shipping logistics companies involved in getting this little audio CD to me

I've been having a weird issue with my gaming PC. it used to be very rare but is now getting frequent and consistent enough that I can't actually game on it without this happening every two minutes or soso I use linux, right. vanilla arch with KDE, NVIDIA drivers, steam, this one software called "oversteer" for configuring my steering wheel, and literally nothing else. this is just my racing sim machine. I boot up assetto corsa, I start driving, I do a couple laps. and then,the audio and video freeze. I know the rest of the computer is fine, because the video game physics are still happening. I get force feedback from the steering wheel, and the feedback changes appropriately if I, say, come to a stop, shift into neutral, and then start again from first. so the video game must still be running. it's just that the video and audio have completely frozensounds like a GPU issue, right? but my headphones aren't plugged into the GPU. they're plugged into a USB DAC. why, then, would the audio also freeze for a GPU issue?also sometimes the video freeze just happens randomly too, like I'll walk up to the computer and the lock screen would have the date and time from many hours ago, and be completely uninteractableI've tried checking dmesg, nothing in there. I've tried reading it with both journalctl -k -b -1 after rebooting, and with sudo dmesg -W > oops.txt. in both cases, no logs at all indicating any sort of a crashany possible idea what could be up here?
