@rl_dane @mirabilos @amin @thedoctorThere is a difference between computer science, and softeware engineering, computer science is theory and driving the field foreward think things like Haskell, Idris and the like, crazy math, bit twiddling and so on.Then you have Software engineering which is building stuff using the pieces and theories made by the computer science wizards, or at least the most practical parts, and creating stuff with them.I think it's parts of this second type that are degrading, or more they fall for the promises and siren song of the capitalist class to use the fasch tools to do stuff.

I was having a lot of fun with Zelda Oracle of Seasons yesterday, after having struggled so much with the 4th dungeon the 5th one has just been a lot of fun, got the magnetic gloves now so that I can attract and detract, and it's fun :)

I'm still rejecting 5+ follow requests every day from people who haven't read my text about me not accepting following requests from people I haven't interacted with and who I don't have something in common with.I sometimes feel a bit bad about it, but if we have nothing in common, and we have never interacted it often is hard to figure out if the account is real, that there is a person behind it etc, I don't report these, because that wouldn't make any sense, but it's kind of weird, some times it feels bottish when I get 6 follow requests from the same account.

@thedoctor @paul @rl_dane Well, I don't know if it is my personal deficiencies, but I find it easier to do it in text, it's clearer, easier to find, and I can do troubleshooting easier because I can see the logs when something didn't go the way I wanted them to.

@rl_dane @thedoctor @paul yeah I never grew up in the ui world, starting out with dos computers, uis is something that belong in programs and games to me, the os doesn't really need it, but of course that's my bias as someone that just works there.

@anarchiv I think I'll be giving up on the Mars triology, it's not really fun to read, and the author seems to be of the opinion that nothing can be solved without an american there, a rich american dude is needed because the "other nationals on mars" seem to be too stupid to agree, so they send up a rich american white guy to solve the problem.In almost every situation the solution is listen to the American guy. It's getting really tiresome, and I don't appreciate the whole every other person who isn't american can't decide, can't think in any way that doesn't fit the stereotype the author have of the nation, the only ones who are allowed to have different thoughts are americans. It's been a tiresome ride, but I think I'll be jumping off.

8 Hours and 34 300 steps (~25 km) (~15 miles, or for @rl_dane 274 Football fields) later I'm back, my legs are nice and tired now, and my feet rather sore, had a great time out :D

@ruari @alatartheblueWell at least English has a sensible way to tell the minutes, for which norwegian has a complicated ish system, which makes sense to me, but I understand is a bit weird, something like "Ti på halv tolv" "Ten to half twelve" For 11:20 for example.

@rl_dane Can't you just run with uniq? I think that only takes away repeated duplicates, as in only really being unique if you sort the file.

@astronomerritt I have mostly gone for the last option, my page is basically just text. It's probably not optimal for gathering readers, but it's not really what I'm after anyway, it's also nice in that my whole page is tiny, the whole blog coming down to under 3 mb for the complete thing, loads quickly on all connections and so on.I agree with you though, if I see a picture that is obviously generated I really do not feel like reading the text, since I'm having the feeling in the back of my mind that I'm just reading something an LLM spewed out.
