       I want to write a book (it will certainly published as PDF / epub for free), I have the ideas already, but I can't decide which OS to use as a base :flan_disappointed: Dear readers, which operating system should I use for my book? It matters a lot because the content will be heavily dependent on the OS.#NixOS or #OpenBSD ?

       When I'm asked why OpenBSD is good and that I want to reply honestly, I have no argument.From a technical point of view, I can't tell any strong benefits using OpenBSD, NetBSD or FreeBSD over Linux, although this doesn't mean they are bad.It would be easy for me to be "cargo-culting" facts, being a "fanboy" or enumerating features that are exclusive to one (and they are rare, except if you are looking for the very very same feature!).The truth is that what one OS will do better than an other, it will also do worse in another area.It's important that we keep the BSD systems as relevant Linux alternatives: for software diversity, innovation and freedom of choice.#linux #openbsd #foss #opensource #netbsd #freebsd

       @solenepercent @Pol I thought mentionning reproducible builds but I forgot about it. This could help verifying if a mirror is serving trustable images but:- you need to build reproducible images to verify if the registry is lying, at this point you do not need the registry- if you trust 3rd party reproducible builds monitoring system, you would need to trust multiple independant peers. A wrong signature immediately reports an issue, not an async reproducible check

       Would you recommend a password manager at all for people that are not really familiar with computers or smartphones? I was thinking at pushing Bitwarden (because I have a vaultwarden instance), but this might be too complicated... Any experience?

       @paulgatling @joel @prahou @stilla this webzine didn't had much content, most of the backlog I stored last year was obsolete, I took a few articles that were still useful or relevant, and not too technical - this is great they hit the spot for you ^^
