       Hi, I'm Sean.I'm from the oldest incorporated city in so-called #canada, #SaintJohn - home of the #irving empire.I am an iconoclast - staunchly #antifascist, #antiracist, #anticapitalist, somewhere on the #autism spectrum, and 3 years into punishing #LongCovid. #WearAMask!!!        One of my favourite features of the #fediverse is seeing people *learning things*. There are so many folks here discovering dying arts and trades. People learning how the things we take for granted work, and endeavouring to implement them themselves!People getting their #HAMradio licenses, #selfhosting, making clothing, blacksmithing, gardening, repairing their own things, backporting modern software to run on windows 3.11... Y'all are my people. Never stop learning, and never stop sharing what you've learned.

       @ocean Can attest to Porkbun - uncluttered ui, proper API access, decent prices, no BS (yet). Only downside is that it's based in nazi occupied america. Otherwise, they're probably one of the best out there.

       I have decided to shut down my #mastodon instance, and all my public facing web services. This will happen in 3 months time, on November 29, 2026, to allow everyone to backup and migrate. The reason for this is that I can no longer trust:- the #Linux kernel- #Debian- rails- most #Foss projectsAdditionally, I'm basically out of storage, it is unaffordable to purchase more, and no one is interested in donating to help. Our bastion of free computing has been poisoned by fascist gen ai slop, and basically NONE of it can be trusted anymore. It's impossible to vet slop from an ecosystem that is welcoming of it. This makes it nearly impossible to update my systems, which makes it harder to pretend it's even remotely secure. I'm fucking devestated - gutted by what has happened to computing, and I just do not have the resources to keep fighting. Fuck all you #LLM boosters into the sun. May you learn the folly of your way and DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT!
