       @Gargron as others have said the neon signs are a call back joke and I laughed each time I saw one. As a shepherd (who also talks to his sheep) the one thing that gave me pause was that Orf can be spread to humans and so applying any medicine would require gloves. It is also highly contagious to other sheep and so even a big hearted shepherd would cull the animal. But I loved the book and the film.
