       As I see more and more of the #foss I depend on become infected with #LLM slop, I'm feeling more and more like the time has come for me to finally start making my own computers from scratch.It feels irrational just saying that, but I've had my fill of where rational has led us.

       Man, have we been fooled.We've been fooled into thinking that life can be even remotely contained into the two (one?) dimension of written communication.  Further than that, we've been duped into thinking that the truncated, stunted version of our written communication and language that is most common in electronic communications even remotely resembles the experience of existing as an intelligent being in the natural world.1/4

       This trick is what makes the claims of the "AI" con plausible, and when you step back and use your five (six?) senses to experience the world for even a moment, it's clear just how laughable their claims of being "this close to intelligence!" are.They have worked hard for this, to crush the richness of human interaction into a single bit, and I guess I have to respect their long game but brothers and sisters, they've got nothing on Mother Nature's game.2/4

       It's a dangerous realization, because it's likely to lead to laughing in the face of the next person who tries to tell you that LLM's and other forms of generative "AI" are almost or more intelligent than people, and that the things that make us different are less important than the things that these "AI"'s appear to do well.3/4

       Granted the LLM is tremendously good at generating text that turns out to be lies, but humans have them beat there as well, and you don't have to look outside of the "AI" industry itself to find some of the most spectacular examples.4/4
