@eff The issue is not with me having or not having these dumb "smart" glasses that record everything for the big data hoarding corporations, the issue is all the idiots buying this shit and then recording all of us whether we consent to this shit or not. Now THAT is the real issue with all these "smart" glasses. I already know I'll never buy this crap from Meta or Google, what I don't know is who all is going to wear them and record us with them.

@itsfoss How does this OS level age verification even works? You just set in OS "Yeah I'm 18+ years old" and you're on your merry way or do you need to somehow actually prove it with ID or shit? If it's just a toggle with no verification just as a tool for parents to use as parental control it's not really problematic, but I'm sure there's already abuse planned with it on corporate/government levels isn't it?

@stux I've said in the beginning. Just skip BlueSky and go for Mastodon. It will go the same route as Twitter. I'm literally a prophet.

@eff I only had X for corporate contacts when everything else failed to contact companies for things and I decided to delete it the moment Donald Trump got endorsed and elected by Elon. Besides, Twitter has been shit in its last years and just got absolutely the worst when Elon took over. Nothing of worth was lost. I switched to Mastodon and never looked back. I just skipped BlueSky because it's the same shit as Twitter was.

@protonprivacy How about phone had parental controls to tell websites child is using it, not me requiring to prove I'm an adult sending my photos and ID scans to some incompetent dumbass companies that ALWAYS get hacked and expose our information. This is such idiotic concept it is wild. This wasn't designed to protect children, this was designed to mass collect user information.

@stux Not to mention everyone intentionally picked the most stupid invasive approach. Instead of demanding from manufacturers to offer simple to use parental controls for parents to moderate and control a device their child is using, they demand governments to become their nannies. All at expense of EVERYONE's privacy. And children won't be any safer because of it. There will just be more private data breaches as a result.

@protonprivacy I don't care personally because I literally don't use any of their shit. Like, NONE of it. You could technically say Android is theirs, but I have all their shit disabled or blocked. What's shit is that clueless masses just use everything from Google because it's free shit. Same people who would question free shit offered on the street but don't mind same free shit on their computers and phones.

@eff Yes we are powerless. Goverments and big tech suddenly decided to lock it down with bullshit excuse of "protecting" children. And they are rolling it out with full force and there is almost nothing we can do about it. This sucks.

@protonprivacy Until age verification becomes anonymous process that is also secure from ground up I'm just not going to use those services. So many use incompetent 3rd parties to do verification for them I'm just not willing to risk my identity online.

@protonprivacy It's not really a fine if it doesn't painfully hurt them. It's just business if they get fined few hundred millions that they earn back in 1 month...
