       One of the Debian boxes was filling up. Come to find it's those "journals" and stuff. You know, the systemd crap. And of course everything in systemd is SO FUCKING COMPLICATED it's impossible to start from the beginning with a man page.I got lucky with this post: https://pieterbakker.com/limiting-systemd-journal-size/A bit too convinced of the awesomeness of systemd that person BUT at least I got to the right "knobs" quickly.Of course just twiddling the time-based stuff didn't work at all to reduce how much space the crap takes up, but once I set the actual limit, okay, it freed up a bunch of space.At least that. 🤷

       I guess the tl;dr version of this, without all the ads and wise words and shit, is as follows:journalctl --disk-usage  to see what's upvi /etc/systemd/journald.conf  set SystemMaxUse to whatever, 512M maybesystemctl restart systemd-journald  apply them thingsjournalctl --disk-usage  see what's up nowI just needed it again on another Debian box. Wow those systemd folks are brainiacs. But I guess I could also complain about Debian who decided to leave this unconfigured.🤷#systemd #journald #debian #LinuxIsNotUNIX
