       @davidrevoy @tristen Did you consider Xlibre on Debian? I used your 2023 setup for my daughter's drawing laptop on a yoga but then upgraded to an x1 and with Xlibre + Debian 13 it all works, same with my desktop setups, no changes required really, just installed Xlibre and done. I saw in your article you had moving from X as a requirement ... so just curious what drives that decision? Mainstream support? Other? Thanks for your articles and write ups; my daughter and I would die without them.

       @davidrevoy @XLibreDev @sonicdesktop Thanks man ... to be precise, the issue was that when I first installed Trixie, it added xserver-xorg-input-wacom. This hijacked the Gaomon driver and broke everything on my workstations (all of them). I then wrote a custom X config and removed the Gaomon driver and used that for 4 months while debugging and checking logs in spare time. After pinpointing the issue, removing that offending package made the Gaomon driver work again, but only under X. So, for a year or so, I ran Xlibre and used the proprietary Gaomon driver. If you tried the same under Wayland, it does not work - it technically functioned but mouse mode on the MK 2018 was broken and everything was off by an inch and choppy and jumpy. The PD1161 has no mouse mode, but drawing mode was similarly buggy under Wayland ... and still is under Trixie. Similar to KDE neon, Debian Testing 14 uses 6.6, and that solves the issues under Wayland.While I feel comfortable using Debian Testing ... others will have to wait for another year to be functional and/or do something like you did w/ KDE neon (and which I did for my daughter - she likes flashier OSs anyway). For me, as opposed to my daughter and/or more art-focused usage, mouse mode is essential. I have to write equations/sketch, scroll, repeat. Xlibre and SonicDE are still very viable atm, as is Debian 13 w/ Xorg and stock KDE. I'm just glad now that I can ride testing up to mainstream and retain support with minimal fuss and muss. Also good to have my manual X configs and other X-based options in case something breaks in the days ahead.Your tutorials, @davidrevoy are a huge help and thanks to @p4p4j0hn for first tipping me off to you. Thanks again, hope this clarifies the technical side of things more and you can feel free to use this in your testing work / analyses moving forward.
