       @Dan_Ramos Politicians seem to think they need to be smart to do their job. They don't. I would rather some random plumber from down the road be my representative in congress. He would appreciate the 4x increase in salary, and 10x increase in holiday time. So long as he can tell the difference between and friend and enemy, and have some advisers that aren't going to spin bullshit.

       @GoyGirl When I wrote that I wasn't even thinking about it from a practical sense. I was actually thinking about it from a symbolic point of view. Things with life are chaotic. They have agency. They have a personality. The animating spirit that created cultures around the world was alive.But now it's a spirit of legalism, of digital algorithms and databases and structure. We are nothing but economic units. We have no meaning. The world is sterile, and so is our spirit.

       I can't get over the fact that in Excel, if you have 1 column and you drag down to auto fill you need to hold down ctrl to increment numbers. But if you select multiple columns you need to hold down ctrl to NOT increment numbers. If I ever find the person who designed that feature I will punch them in the face.

       @Hoss setting aside the somewhat ironically amusing distopia for a second. It is actually possible to install a copy of windows with all this shit completely disabled using an auto unattend script. That is what I’ve done with my machine and it is excellent. Startup time at home is like 1.5secs. Startup time at the office with all the shitty bloatware is like 5mins and I get nagged to reboot every second day.
