@kirtai I came across it looking around for interesting versioning schemes! It's such a cool idea haha, each version adds 1 byte of data to your project ;)

I thought, how different it would be to be old. I had this idea in my head when I was young that I'd be going through life by moving between things, that interests would roll off of me and that which was once novel would have to make space for some other new thing. But it's not at all what happened. I'm about 15, and I come across this list of blue monospaced links. At that moment, I have no inclination toward... anything really, I'm a teen, videogames are like my whole life, I can barely understand English; and somehow, through all that mess of folders with names I didn't understand, I find myself saving a text file made up of these large squares of capitalized letters. Translation notes of the Liber Soyga.Among thousands of lines, my eye catches a passage where the angel Michael, addressing John Dee who puzzles over how to decipher these tables, says: "It is revealed by virtue and truth not power". I transcribe this line on the top of my school notebook in large letters, it becomes woven into everything I touch:"Et haec revelantur in virtute et veritate non Vi."It would take another 15 years before the 36 tables of the book were deciphered, and many more for me to even come across what they revealed, that the Liber Soyga is likely one of the earliest cellular automata. It's a coincidence, of course, but I can't help but see an inescapable inertia that runs back all the way to the start, and that nothing really rolls off of anyone after all.https://wiki.xxiivv.com/site/now

Someone just demonstrated that the entire Uxn toolchain can be reconstructed from nothing but a POSIX shell, xxd and sed. It's down to taking 34 minutes to build the Uxntal assembler.bootstrap: https://joe.cz/uxn/uxn1b-drifloon.txtrepo: https://gitlab.com/racketeer/uxnsh#uxn

Two purple martins joined us for storytime last night, as @rek was reading passages from Huxley's Island, they landed on the rope and stayed for a while, I took the photo from the bed just looking up through the window above my head.

For the past year, we've tracked all finances for Hundred Rabbits using a bespoke spreadsheet program that's only 9kb(no it's not a webapp).I was scratching my head wondering how we could link sheets with each other so that we could jump between them, I realized that a spreadsheet itself is just fine as a file browser if you can open the strings as paths.Obviously it looks super weird if I try to open a markdown file as a tsv..

Handwriting but not typewriting leads to widespread brain connectivityWriting by hand is not one motion but a sequence of thousands of tiny micro-movements coordinated with your eyes in real time, where each letter is a different shape that requires the brain to solve a slightly different spatial problem.https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/psychology/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2023.1219945/full

Check out that lil guy with the groceries.I mean look at that hat! Coming back with a bag full of carrots and parsnips and other things you've never even heard of. Where are they off to, what's the potted plant for, is it food? Is it a pretty centerfold? It could be sentient, it wouldn't be the last cactus to board a train and head someplace.https://rabbits.srht.site/decadv/#occ2026 x #Catjam, art by @rek

You know what's more dead than Latin? Peano's Latino Sine Flexione. It died a first time when Latin stopped being taught as a language of scientific exchange and people forgot it, then, his auxlang died a second time over when Lsf got absorbed into Interlingua. One could say it's ultramort. And you know how much I like me some dead things.Anyhow, you're on a boat, it's raining, you don't have any internet access, you're thinking about Sergei Parajanov, you can't just chain-drink coffee all day, you recently learned that the word for snow in Latin is "nive", that's all it took, so what do you do? You translate Barbara's 1940s Le Soleil Noir into Peano's superdead Latin. Because, that's just what you do now, because time is Uv.. Nuh.. Imporchance. All I've got is a broken Stardict Latin dictionary with Chinese definitions, a short list of common idioms, the only LsF dictionary(fixed version) that Peano ever put out(I think?), one Primo Libro de Interlingua. The issue is that the LsF is full of typos(Optical scan issues I think?), so I wrote a new LsF dictionary, with fewer errors. That's it, that's my day, I don't really know how that's going to misc mit Ol' Computator Caerul- Cal-, no wait that's corn.https://rabbits.srht.site/decadv/#occ2026
