@kkarhan @f4grx @projectanchorage thanks! Right now, I'm trying to sort the build process into one where tools is ran with certain flags and then the actual build is done with different flags. Basically, system compiler flags for tools and Minix compiler flags for release.I might just make a script to do it for people. I've also done my best to modify Makefiles among other things so most errors and mishaps are automatically fixed in build, albeit maybe jankily.

@kkarhan @f4grx @projectanchorage The upside is that after you build tools and it's all downloaded, extracted and patched, building all tools again from scratch (at least on my 10-core M4 Air with -j10 and no Low Power Mode) takes around 3 minutes. Yeah that's for GCC, binutils, gmp, mpfr, basically everything Minix needs which isn't much. Most are pretty small or there isn't a lot to build in them...the OS is a different story though. needs -j1 or you'll get sometimes some race conditions.

@kkarhan @f4grx @projectanchorage I also think me disabling Objective-C too in an attempt to get the build process to stop complaining about it must have cut down tool build time too. We're barely really compiling much other than C and some C++ stuff. It's clearly not all of GCC or it's C/C++ stuff. Only three libs are built and it's libgcc, libiberty and libgomp in the lib Makefile.

@kkarhan @f4grx @projectanchorage Now I got release and tools to complete first try without errors. I made the ISO and now Minix panicks because it's only finding 11 boot modules instead of 12???

@kkarhan @f4grx @projectanchorage that took forever but I think I got it.releasetools/Makefile was looking for sbin/init/init when init was actually in sbin/init...going to recompile and FUCKING PRAY.

@kkarhan @f4grx @projectanchorage I had to go to sleep, it was 5AM. Anyway, after some fixes...I GOT A COMPILE WORKING FROM GCC IN MACOS, CLEANBUILD FROM THE START!!!I'll see what I can do about getting the code in the Echium repo later, but for now, it works!!

@QueerMatters We cannot compromise a space like the Fediverse for incoming users who aren't willing to make an effort for the existing users.If they can't bothered to follow other's trigger and accessibility needs, they need to fuck off back to Twitter or Bluesky and stay out of a community predominantly ran by people who like to keep it open for all walks of life.It's like P2P torrents. Give back what you get from others. Same applies with CW's on Fedi.

I believe all hardware should be open to user modification in hardware and software.If a manufacturer stops providing software support/updates for a device, I should be able to run my own code on it with no barriers so I can support it myself with my own kernel/OS or another community maintained system.I should also be able to upgrade it with newer parts over time without having to own a soldering iron or have serialisation on the parts.We need control over our legally bought devices.

This is why jailbreaking/hardware hacking exists. We work around what companies set on us because they want money.We'll hack devices to make them last longer until we die as I very much doubt that these for-profits will have a change of ethics.(Notice how I didn't say change of heart? Yeah, they don't have one. Shocker.)So yeah. Buy that Apple device. Buy that locked Android. Break their security. Find vulnerabilities but use them responsibly to truly own them.Hack what's yours.

right so i got the PowerBook G4. problem is that the 4 key is extremely sensitive and was actually firing repeatedly. i took the 4 key off and it stopped. the slightest touch of the rubber dome thing makes it fire the 4 key. any ideas on how to fix it?please boost this post, i don't want to use it without a proper 4 key!#VintageTech #PowerBook #Apple #Tech #Technology

@libreoffice Unfortunately, all too common. Fell for the OneNote trap and exported everything before I left the thing that allowed me to use OneNote actively... now I'm stuck using some other software on my Mac to use the OneNotes I exported. It is better than OneNote to a degree though.

@ariadne This is why my account is folreq only. It was that and the other bots that appear on mastosoc every now and then.Some will probably find what I said really bad but I do it for keeping legit stats.The Gaza war is bad and I worry and feel awful for them but random following and spam mentions isn't how to run a fundraiser. (the latter hasn't occurred yet but it will soon as I approve more followers)I want people who like what I do to follow me rather than people follow for donations.
