It's incredibly embarrassing that the Canada Post app is stuffed full of scummy-looking ads now. It feels like I'm browsing Facebook or something. If only the liberals believed in “public service" instead of trying to make the post office scrounge up pennies in ad revenue…

I have a paid subscription package tracking app I use for most stuff, but for Canada Post stuff I usually use the official app just because it gets access to faster updates than third party apps that have to poll the site. But I'll have to rethink that if it's going to be stuffed with this many ads now

@Lunaphied Yeah, there's a few good ones. Had good experiences with Parcel: https://parcelapp.netAnd Deliveries: https://deliveries.app$5 a year isn't going to be making them big bucks but it probably at least covers whatever they have to pay for API access for all the services they cover.

This is a BBS by techno music freaks for fellow techno music freaks - a bunch of the regular posters were members of the Kansai underground techno scene, and there's a ton of music chatter here. The CD itself doubles as a techno album with music by some of the posters, and I embedded a playlist with a bunch of music off the CD for you to listen to while you read.

I've *never* seen an offline BBS archive like this from back in the day that was designed for you to be able to use like this. This seems to have been a demo, designed for people who might want to consider joining. We can't join it these 30 years later, but the fact it lets us try the BBS out like they wanted us to is incredibly cool. I'm so grateful this exists.

They've also got previews of a few other BBSs that were in the region, which is a really cool look at what kinds of collaboration and communication the different BBSs in the area had with each other. Plus this SimNaniwa map is *killer*. @cwebber Yeah, and this is also the "house cartoon style" of one of the major AI image generators. Once you start to recognize those faces you see them everywhere on the internet. The big AI image generators absolutely have common stylistic elements they repeat (unless they're prompted to avoid it? idk, never used them), and it's worth getting a feel to help with that gut "oh this is AI" tell. @karpour @ryanprior @theeclecticdyslexic @SofaFernsehFan @FOSSForce@fosstodon.org

I always find myself wondering what people think the "p" means when they're quoting resolutions these days. The "p" part hasn't been relevant for 20 years, and most people just treat it as a standard part of describing resolutions, but... do people think about what it's short for? Probably not?
