       #Mastodon TIL that you can self-boost a toot, which shoves it to the front of everyone's timeline (boo, rude).... but I also learned that you can make a filter on one or more toots and select them individually to add to the filter (awesome, yay). So now I have a "squelched" filter to kill self-boosted toots.I like how so far, every problem I have with this protocol already has a solution.(... now to see how much work it would be to add "is self-boosted toot" as a criteria in the filter)p.s. I'd say something like "Stop self-boosting your toots," but it's your service too and I ain't gonna tell you how to live your life. Just know when you're repetitive my squelch is judging you silently. ;)

       @stux Do we know that? TBH I can see a lot of potential advantages to throwing Copilot at a code base as hairy as a Ruby on Rails app, though I have not tried.

       @stux correct. What you're bumping up against is the general theory of relativity. Special theory of relativity deals with the behavior of different inertial frames moving at different velocities relative to each other. But then general theory adds in what happens when you accelerate and shift from one of those frames to another frame. I can't pretend to understand all the math, but it is general relativity that both explains why it is the people in the rocket, if they turn all the way around and come back to Earth, who are younger than the people who stayed on Earth... And why we sitting down here in our gravity well experience time a tiny, tiny fraction more slowly than the GPS satellites orbiting the planet do. Because a rocket ship accelerating and the constant acceleration of standing around in a gravity field are exactly the same as far as the theory goes.

       @dalias I mean, Independent of whether we donate to them they are correct, both in terms of the law and in terms of what the law is for. We can dislike it (though I would recommend we sit hard with precisely why we dislike it and consider all implications... Most ways to take power from AI companies via copyright put it right in the hands of the Disney corporation). But their understanding is correct as far as I understand.
