@kirby Check bemenu out too! It's customisable from an environment variable — I've made a script that sources my config file and sets the variable, then made links to it for dmenu and dmenu-run. There is an pinentry implementation based on bemenu for GnuPG — particularly useful if you're using pass as your keychain.And it works in both wayland and x11 environments — so you can have a unified mostly identical setup with it.I even use it as emoji selector on my i386 OpenBSD machine — it's a Pentium-M ThinkPad, you can't get less computational performance than that, and it's still pretty responsive!

Not to brag (blatant lie!), but I own a physical copy of School Days.Newer titles, if they have the element at all — tend to overdo it. Like in School Days violence is a result of accumulated emotional tension, modern VNs make it an important plot element, part of the original design, like not a thing that goes horribly sideways.

@quad @hj CDs are pretty easy to burn at home — a lot of people still have the equipment and blanks aren't that hard to find. It's much more complicated with vinyl LPs :marseyemojismilemouthcoldsweat: CDRs don't last long, but compared to CDs manufactured in small quantities — the way most artists would go for, the difference won't be night and day. I think that's the reason why CD option is less common.Also shipping and handling costs — depending on your region that might exceed the price of CD itself. I do prefer having music on proper CD, but sometimes I see rate like $50 and I'm like :marseyshock: Okay, FLAC it is! I'm going to burn it myself :marseysigh:

@kirby I played a 3-dimensinal Fallout game once. As soon as they let me out to the wasteland I found some heavy dudes (I think this is Brotherhood of Steel or something). On my fifth attempt I somehow managed to kill them and got some good loot out of them — as I'm barely ever interested in plot in such games, the game didn't seem challenging enough from here and I quit it.In ELEX killing late-game enemies was much more challenging, it also has an extensive open world worth exploring and the plot has a rather unexpected turn, so I liked this game much more.

@kirby Prebuilt dwm is indeed pretty useless: you press Meta/Alt+F to go one word forward in shell running in a terminal and it does some stupid shit instead — default bindings never work for me, using Super as modifier for most of its shortcuts is a must.Not sure how editing a file and doing "make install" sucks more than systemd though :marseyhmmm:

@p @pwm @mrsaturday @sun Repatriating industrial-scale manufacturing would be very hard, but on smaller scale it's possible. Starting small like Purism or System'76 and maybe growing from there organically.Convincing people to pay premium for local products "in this economy" ain't easy task either. But I think it's possible seeing how things are slowing down in many areas. Even with computer things they have to come up with more and more excuses to convince people to buy new hardware — if this is the case, even from the economy standpoint, some would probably go for products built to last. There is market for it.
