@mookie LibreOffice 26.2 is still being maintained. The update checker will show LibreOffice 26.8 after the first couple of point releases (so 26.8.2 or so), when the 26.2 branch get closer to end-of-life. Of course, you can download the latest branch from the website at any time.

@Foxle LibreOffice added Markdown support earlier this year. Also, when you say you "can't understand" why LibreOffice doesn't have a certain feature, please remember that it's a volunteer-driven project with limited resources. Features only happen when people help us to make them happen!

Software Freedom Day 2026: What Freedoms Does Libreoffice OfferToday, 19 September, is Software Freedom Day, a special day that the free software community celebrates every year on the third Saturday in September all over the world. It is a good opportunity to look at LibreOffice from a perspective that is often taken for granted: not what the software does, but what it allows users to do and what it does not impose on them.https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/09/18/software-freedom-day-2026/#LibreOffice #odf

Our work in the #LibreOffice project is mostly online – but we like to join in-person events too. Last month we were at FrOSCon in Germany, handing out cool merch and answering questions about our web and mobile development plans: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/09/21/libreoffice-at-froscon-2026/ #foss #opensource #freesoftware

@tun_able Thanks for supporting us! It hasn't been deprecated, but there have been some issues getting the newer branch in there. Our Release Manager says the 26.2 branch is submitted so should hopefully arrive soon. Thanks for your patience!
