       @tante Whoever invented the term “AI slop” owes us all an apology.  There’s no such thing as “AI slop”, there is slop made by sloppy people who used AI to do it. Calling it “AI slop” is to shift the blame from the craftsperson to the tool they used sloppily.

       Tsundoku is the Japanese term for the pile of unread books (today I learned it dates back to the Meiji era!).  Tsun-, from tsumu, to pile up.  Doku from read (also means “idle”).I propose: “tabigatory” (tab purgatory) for all those open browser tabs.

       @tante In this particular circumstance, I don’t think you’re being very fair to the person who told you that they’d sought an answer to a question you asked, and what they found when they did so.  They even took the trouble to tell you the source of what they found, allowing you to judge the credibility of the information.Of course, you may have thought their choice of resource was not consistent with your way of thinking, and perhaps you assumed that they follow you closely enough to know this (not an unreasonable assumption, if a bit self-centered).At least you had the decency not to call out the person whose help you rejected and subject them to a pile-on resulting from your own mistaken reading of their reply.

       @niconiconi *Snowcrash* had its skateboard courier (and I guess the bar was always close by because it existed in the Metaverse and not in the meatverse).  But I guess it wasn’t cyberpunk, it was picaresque. Plus, American, so no subways to speak of.And there was that Gibson novel with the bicycle courier who lived in a favela on the Bay Bridge.Question: can you judge a cyberpunk setting by where in the world that same nightclub is?  80s cyberpunk, it was in Japan.  Nineties cyberpunk, it was on a space station?
