Similarly, a writer can write without a text editor - just as well, only slower.If loss of a tool = loss of your skill & knowledge, then that tool isn't an asset, it's a liability.        @EUCommission Back up. Before going all "Will somebody think of the children", let's mandate that digital corporations have no more leeway to harming ANYONE, adults included, than is allowed in the non-digital world. With proper safety & privacy regulations on digital services half the child endangerment - if not more - disappears right away.

       @stux The only things I will - reluctantly - buy from my phone is things I've bought before, from the same vendors. Mobile internet is shit; I've felt that from day 1, even though I built my first responsive website before the iPhone came out. Everything is a compromise enforced by the fact that the screen is too small to be practical for almost anything & that elevates the risk of missing something important, so I'll rather not commit to anything until I have a better interface 😁

       Welp, just discovered that if someone is an AI proponent, I just generally trust them less - like, if I'm reading an article about something else & the author's other articles in the sidebar include things like "My best AI tips", I stop reading & close the window. Didn't decide on it, it just happened. #AI

       @benroyce @lisamelton I was told off once for calling right-wing extremists pigs, along the lines of "Do you think callling people pigs will change their minds?" - I had to explain (with some exasperation, I might add) that if someone earns the "pig" label they're beyond changing & I'm not addressing them at all; I'm letting everyone else know that if the thought "Those people are pigs" occurs to them, they're neither wrong nor alone.
