       What an actually dreadful set of circumstances we came from.Our agency was on loan to others for periods of time that would be sanity-breaking, compounded by practically every form of stress.Shit like this requires years of therapy to fully work through, but, right now?        @neauoire @mia This actually is a pretty critical result in models of computation: indirection is one of the most powerful operators you could add to any counter machine (which is what multiset rewriting's sequential cousin is)!Once you add indirection, you become able to access arbitrary amounts of memory. Instead of encoding data within the counters like stacks of bits, you instead just reach for another counter that you assume exists. Indirection does require you to have an infinite number of counters, or at least as many as your number type can handle.If you try to reach for a counter that doesn't exist, you can just fail the rule match. Benefits of guarded computation. :)
