       @davidrevoy i'd been wondering why my ancient wacom tablets¹ worked much better in linux than my 2019 huion tablet in linux! i know i shouldn't be surprised & disappointed that you got the answer that you did, but still.......... :')as you mentioned, way back in the 2000s and earlier, there was pretty much only the wacom brand for graphics tablets avaliable to consumers. i know this from personal experience because i was regularly using a now defunct art website at the time. wacom graphics tablets qare the only brand i remember digital artists using. i think a few people living in some former soviet and eastern bloc countries had a russian brand, especially in, well, russia, but my brain might be making that shit up. :ablobcattrash: i was also at a bougie secondary school at the time that just had wacom for their graphics tablets.¹i've bought a few in different sizes & models since they're much cheaper on ebay nowadays than they were brand new. for example, my small bamboo pen & touch from 2009 was $20 australian and roughly $130 australian brand new (i could only find us pricing online, which was $99). it's also still possible to get drivers for some of the older tablets that work on windoze, but less so on macos. the wacom support on linux is still top notch, even for my intuos 3 from 2004!
