       @Gargron Yeah, people who don't know anything about language or translation seem to think of translation as a perfect example of a "mechanical" process that should be automate-able.*Maybe* for some kinds of technical writing (which still has its difficulties), but good translation of literature is probably one of the hardest things to replace humans for, right alongside writing good literature in the first place.

       @ariadne Oh, I'm absolutely not saying social media bans are a good idea either. They seem to be ineffective, not addressing the real issues, and (if successfully implemented) ID requirements for speaking online seem intrinsically incompatible with a democratic society.It's just especially wild for governments to suddenly start doing that at the same time they're not doing anything about "AI". (Is it too cliche now to complain the policy is a distraction?)On average children may actually be less easily fooled by the technology them some other demographics. But still, you make a world that's hostile to minors existing outside their houses (especially here in the US, which hates anyone without money and a car), and ban minors from communicating with each other using social media. But hey, at least they have chatbots for company.
