When your friend/loved one tries something new, PLEASE encourage them and don't shit on them just because they're not instantly a whiz at it...Don't get competitive. Don't get jealous. Don't "test" them. Why I wrote that: I was made to believe by my family and former friends that I'm talentless, ugly and not graceful (as in: if you're not eye candy as a woman, don't bother doing any audience-facing arts), lazy and "shouldn't be wasting my time anyway".This has created incredibly deep insecurities within me and pretty much made me stop doing any art for myself. It took years and an unapologetically loving partner for me to gradually unravel this.
