       Positive experience of the day:I sent a manufacturer a random eBay offer of one of their products, asking for an opinion if it still works. Not even an hour later I get a reply that it will mostly likely be broken and an explanation on what's most likely broken. I have learned a bit more, but unfortunately I can't undo diffusion inside a semiconductor

       Pretty much exactly 6 years ago I ditched windows for Linux, not because I enjoy working on / with computers so much, but because I thought "It can't be that much worse". And considering how much I fight with the windows machines at work I was right, fuck that noise. For CAD I've always used fusion because it just worked for me, but with the recent updates I am once again considering freecad, at least that doesn't come with a fucking AI assistant.

       I'm not saying freecad is a worse choice than fusion, but I'm pretty good with fusion and freecad just speaks an entirely different language.

       One major thing I miss about twitter are the bear bots. You follow them, and every couple of hours you get a nice picture of a big bear (the animal kind) in your feed. I couldn't find anything like that on mastodon :(

       Sidequest: Complete ✅It counts!Fun experiment: Integrating what I assume to be single electron pulses gives me 33 pVs (into 50 ohm) or 650 fC. That's 4*10^6 unit charges, and for a spec gain of 3*10^6 on this PMT I'll call that close enough 😁Using that value as a reference I can trigger on 30-ish Photoelectrons, giving me just under one trigger per second, just what you'd expect for muon flux through a detector this size!

       @wolf480pl I have tried multiple ways of cleaning the glass, including methods I know to work well for PVD and a layer of all the paint primers I have here.
