inspired by a friend, well, this might be a bit of a long oneFor about a decade, I was scarred by the loss of my mother. She had cheated on my father after a rough patch in their marriage, and the fallout was immense. Many nights I spent listening to them fighting, arguing, screaming. At one point, my father attempted suicide, which was only stoppped when I physically grabbed the gun and pointed it away from him. This was some of the worst years of my life, and it culminated in my mother leaving us, and my father remaining as my sole parent.Needless to say, I was angry. Hurt. Scarred. My mother, the one I was closest to in life, just leaving?? Why? Why didn't she take me with her? Why didn't she just stay? It was so, so hard, and I rationalized this into anger. My father not being the best parent definitely did not help, and going from a parent who loves you with their whole heart to one that only sees you as a duty and a burden is and will probably be one of the roughest transitions I've experienced. I was mad at my mother. I treated her like she was dead. I referred to her as "my bitch mother", and took every opportunity to dismiss her and what she did for me.Cut to the present. I'm no stranger to my father's anger episodes, and many a time have I been emotionally tortured by these incidents. Lately though, with my having an income and the confidence and zest in life only HRT can provide, I have had the proverbial balls to stand up to these tantrums.He did not take it well.He committed to "not pay for anything anymore", meaning I would be the sole source of income to keep me and my sister fed, clothed, and sheltered. Fine. Sure. I earn enough to have a sizeable grocery haul delivered bi monthly, and all it took was the selling off of some of my cherished possessions and the help of some dear friends to tide me over till I could financially stabilize. This was really rough on myself. I essentially took on more responsibility at work and self flagellated for months to ensure survival. But I made it work. All bills are paid. All mouths are fed.I wish it ended there.
