       @malwaretech yeah that’s their usual trick. I never cared about them when they first came about, but paying attention in the last 2~3y has made clear that they do this shit a lot, alongside openwashing and other misrepresentation(Iirc @zzt has put together a small gallery of their top hits, but I don’t have the thread handy rn)

       an incomplete thought: there's an interesting undertone to observe wrt all the generative/"corrective" things latelythink everyone's favourite prompt vendor, think dlss, think all the pitches game execs are slobbering overthere's an element of "remove imperfections" / glossify to _all_ of it. I don't think I'm the first one to remark on that so I don't think _that_ part is profound. but I wonder: is any part of this a reaction to people recoiling in horror at current harsh realities?

       @ariadne I’ve recently seen a promptfondled codebase that with its big blobs (.git, .mp4, etc) stripped away is a tenth of the size of the linux kernel codebase (also with blob folders stripped)it’s 10 months old honestly not sure this sort of thing can even be saved without just scrapping it and reimplementing

       @ariadne yeah, saw that misfeature pop up in settings about a year ago, instantly off across my profileseventually I'll be switching from Fx, it's just too fucking malicious now. there seems to be hope in servo, but it's gonna be a rough ride for a bit :|

       @mntmn getting counters on both those input rules is a bit odd, first match should terminate processing (unless there’s bits of the rule not visible in screenshot)the error message you quite comes from the ipset binary tho, use `ipset list` etc to check there also, you may like `-L -nvx` for a general display (it’s my preferred when dealing with iptables, tho I’m trying to stick to nftables on new stuff)

       @ariadne I do, and I think there's a ton of value in Good Booksas-is lately I've been slowly making headway on curating a library (and I samizdat parts of it to people when I know the book someone needs)((happy to pay authors, too. but all the DRM stores make it quite effortful to actually _own_ a thing, and they can go pound sand with that))
