       @ariadne heck, even a Markov chain can be a decent shitposter. With what I know now about tf-idf (being ignorant about this was a major roadblock for calculating relevance) I'm really tempted to resurrect my python IRC atrocity from 2004 or so

       I boosted the "Kill Yr Substack" browser extension earlier today but undid that given a) it's vibe coded, b) not available in the official extension store, c) supposedly MIT licensed but the source is not made available. Laudable effort in principle but extremely dodgy behavior upon closer inspection.

       @ariadne @whitequark the fundamental problem of LLMs having no idea about facts or truth (while at the same time extruding confidently wrong text) remains unsolved, as a psychologist I continue to view LLMs as deeply unethical (in the sense that they're accidental master manipulators and nobody is immune to gaslighting). How do you (target audience: non-programmers!) distinguish "tool took 47 seconds for the job" vs "tool just extruded text claiming the job was done"?
