They might ... but then again, they might think the mistake was the authorial intention and let it pass. CEs vary wildly in their approach (never say competence) and your trad publisher's commissioning editor is busy managing workflow (editing gets done on the side, in their own time).So don't rely on the editors cleaning up your messes.

@lilithsaintcrow @mwl You may want to dink with the LibreOffice settings before using it for serious work, but it can be configured to look a lot like circa-2004 Microsoft Word without the ridiculous upsell.

@mwl @lilithsaintcrow Scrivener isn't a layout program, it's a complex document authoring program. Keith added paragraph styles in Scriv 3 but they feel like a bit of an afterthought (and turned the "compile document" step into a complete dog's dinner).You might want to grab the free evaluation edition, you can run it on up to 30 days (discontinuous, too) before it nags you for a license code. And it's fully functional. Also, there's a manual! (400 pages of PDF.)

Welp, it's taken me a few days to get round to it, but I have just now deleted Chrome (and it's associated LLM malware downloads) from ALL my Macs. Fucker was taking up 6.5Gb of space on my Macbook Neo. Utterly unacceptable bullshit on a machine that starts with 256Gb of storage, even if I *wanted* the AI features (I don't).Took a while because I had to transfer all my extensions and continuously open tabs across into Safari (I mainly use Firefox, but some sites render badly in FF.)

@mntmn @elmine I kind of *want* an open source modular sublaptop, but that keyboard layout is a deal-breaker for me. Why no staggered QWERTY alternative? (I note there are other commercial 7" subnotebooks with a more regular keyboard layout—shrunken tab keys, for example.)
