@dangillmor One of the nearby Indivisible chapters actually moved their mailing list to substack. I offered my services for free to come up with an alternative because substack publishes Nazis. They later posted the last message to the old list that, "Many progressives use substack."They are of course correct. I left that group though. If I can't get your newsletter without signing up with Nazis...fuck your newsletter. For real.

@eff Is this being pushed by AI companies trying to make sure there's something out there that "requires" AI to even pretend to accomplish?AI is going to get it wrong, but there's really no other way that anyone is even going to come up with anything at all that even tries to address these stupid laws, like WA already passed.

@quinn Out of all the pieces of hardware to keep, this person kept their printer???Those things are constantly trying to call home and rewire themselves to keep you from using unapproved ink. That's the official story of what they're doing anyway--who even knows if that's true. They're like the last thing I'd keep around. You can go to the library and use a printer. That was his shining moment.We are basically living in exactly the world that movie was about if the Roddy Pipper character never existed.Because he didn't, but what the movie was about was in fact happening in real time. @mullvadnet So I'm trying to learn zkp right now and it seems to me that it doesn't do much.For example, to generate a proof to verify age you need both the actual birthday and the target age. So you can't just certify a proof that can be used with any age. You have to certify ones that are for say 21 and 18 and any other you might need. So far that's what I'm seeing and that seems useless to me. You can just certify a statement that says, "This person is 18," and forego all the math.

@mntmn More like prequel to The Enterprise happening upon a planet very intent on selling weaponry and wants to demo.However, ours won't shut off when you buy something. It'll consider you an existing customer--confirmed to have need of product. It'll weigh the likelihood of you being interested in even more powerful weaponry, enter the next demo mode, and spam you to death.

@pixelfed I see why this would be a really irritating deployment issue, but what's the security impact? Is it just that local users end up having to do a bunch of security nonsense they shouldn't--or maybe can't even log in--or is there same way this can be exploited?I tried to trace back through the change to see any discussion but there's no link to the issue. You might consider adding issues to your commit messages so this can be done.
