@ariadne I don't get it. Why do we want to move?Because of a pending court case -- unrelated to mstdn.ca -- that hasn't been proven in court, meaning "innocent until proven guilty"?Several people have posted this CBC article from a week ago, this is not new. I don't know the admin personally, I'm not here to either defend nor judge him in the court of public opinion. I do think we should let the justice system run it's course before we decide how and if this will impact mstdn.ca and whether we need to move to another server.Unless there is something else I'm missing? Do you have personal issues with the admin?

@ariadne You're suggesting publicly that people move. I just wanted to know if there was more to the story that isn't in the CBC story. Because I've seen this come up a few times over the past week, and I don't understand why certain people seem to find "humour" in this. And by humour, I mean your "lol" text about it.What you wrote: "... you might want to move lol"This is why I asked if you have other knowledge or previous dealing with the person in question.

My oldest recently traded in her 2005 car for a newer model at the dealership. I wondered why the dealership would want to do a trade for such an old car.Then it clicked -- it takes older cars off the market, making them harder to find, and over time pushes people to buy newer cars from the dealerships.The car ran great, even at 21 years old. She could have gotten money for it, and someone could have had a starter car. But the dealership offered $2K for it, so it was difficult to turn down.They're not doing it out of the goodness of their heart. They're effectively shrinking the market of available used vehicles.

Someone I know after working for a big grocery store for 10 years was happy to tell me they make $1 over the minimum wage.They can only be scheduled for 24 hours per week. I suspect if they got scheduled for 40 hours the company would have to pay them benefits.The company they work for is public. Looking up the CEO, he gets paid ~$12.6M per year. While the employees are making basically minimum wage, which is $18.25/hour in BC.The CEO pays himself more than $8000/hour. He makes over $64,000 in a single 8-hour day, more than the employees make in an entire year.I don't care who you are, no amount of work you do could possibly be worth this much over your employees. This is wage theft, and when combined with all the executives of the company, artificially increases the cost of products sold in the stores for all Canadians.Tax. The.
