       @AzulCrescent Firstly, condolences, regardless. Had a similar experience when my father died. Were in contact at best once every 1 1/2 years for 6+ years. Unpleasant memories. When he died, was unsure what to feel. On the one hand, he was not a nice person, so there was something of a sense of relief. On the other, he was my father, so not entirely irrelevant for my existence. Did not weep for him, or feel the need to do so, but noticed that there was nevertheless an emotional toll to pay. As someone already said, grief can be weird.
