       it keeps coming up a lot so here's a table of the median daytime utilisation rates of trains in all the countries i have data for.previously i was defining it as the "distance from french utilisation rates" but i realised that this was unfair - what if a country is more french than france?it turns out there are two: Montenegro and Malaysia.I wonder if anyone has ever asked the SNCF if they are looking at those countries as role models, or if it's just a coincidence?

       @ptrc this is a skill issue i also have :(i think about half the time i have had a complicated merge i have found it easier to rewrite it by handi hadn't heard of zdiff3 📝@domi

       first for me in Switzerland: guard comes along and checks tickets. wearily asks a group of tourists for the Halbtax¹ ... but it was fine! they had perfectly valid tickets!(they had already paid the excess on an earlier service and could show the supplement)1: the ticket machines assume you have ~€200 discount card that is difficult for non-residents to obtain. tourists invariably get caught out and it is very silly
