@sendpaws@mitra.pawslut.party I was invited during the beta, but uninterested. When I checked it out again, I was blocked by 30 people before I had ever made a single post. I only knew one of them, the rest were all complete strangers. Still confused about that.

We've all heard the libelous bullshit from you a million times about all of your competitors. I will never use GrapheneOS. I will never recommend GrapheneOS. GrapheneOS is not free software as long as you and your greedy victim-complex mafia control it. You think you're hot shit because you have all of these "privacy" YouTubers glazing you, you've got funding from Proton and from Motorola. But it's meaningless. Real truth-seekers who really care about protecting themselves don't like you because you are a spiteful and extremely manipulative person and your entire team is untrustworthy. I could've almost believed Copperhead was stolen if YOU weren't the one who said it. But every time YOU say something, I have to assume it's a lie. For all I know, you probably stole it. Because your behavior is indicative of someone who needs control over everything, the way you throw a fit at even the mere suggestion that you are not being worshiped, and weasel your way into places where you prey on people hoping to find solutions to problems that narcissists like you helped to create to begin with. I don't know how much I'll be doing this week since I am spending time with the boyfriend towards the next weekend, but I have been on a roll again with work for a short time. It's all task inertia. I have to find a problem I'm confident I have a solution for when I'm away from the computer, and then get a winning streak to really have a productive time.

@bonkmaykr@canithesis.org pointless complexity aside, the real problems are that this only works with debugging binaries and only if their symbols are in Visual Studio format, and Windows doesn't even remember where the loaded DLLs are from. allegedly. MSDN didn't exactly give me a single concise page or two explaining this. anyway, it can't print nameless addresses like glibc.the entire point of getting a backtrace at runtime and not from your debugger directly, is to get information about a crash in a customer's stripped binary. this code is entirely useless for that purpose. i am sure there is another way to use CaptureStackBacktrace to get output similar to GNU's backtrace_symbols but it isn't documented anywhere I could find.

@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz as long as youre not playing triple A games, and you're not using windows like a sucker, it's fine. more than enough actually. i've run full IDEs and multitasked on a 15 yr old laptop with less than that and it works fine

If you run a Git server accessible from a web interface, you need to block Facebook's crawlers. Eversince I started mirroring the XLibre repos my server has been getting DDoSed fucking constantly by Facebook. We lost Checkpoint when we migrated this year so it got really bad. I finally had enough of it.meta-externalagent is the worst offender. Thankfully, it listens to robots.txt unlike some other aggressive bots I've had the displeasure of dealing with.

Amiga Inc was not even a games company. Their leading product was hardware. Nobody wanted to own an Amiga computer because the IBM PC had caught up, was already in offices, had way more effective marketing, and the main audience interested in a multimedia computer already had their eyes on Nintendo and Sega. Commodore spent years flailing about, half-developing and throwing away different architectures, and not knowing who to sell Amiga hardware to. This is all VERY well documented.DOOM's trial was under a shareware license. You got free marketing by being the most copied PC game in existence and benefitted greatly from it. 90% of people illegally copying the full version doesn't change that if you're outdoing Windows in install frequency.Lastly, this additude is exactly why piracy exists. You need to directly and openly address the needs of people copying or they will not respect your boundaries. Games were always expensive, especially back then, and the internet changed the way distribution worked. People who illegally copy media today are also the biggest spenders. Let me tell you about myself. When I was a kid I didn't have money. I pirated shit all the time because it was the only way I was allowed to participate. Six years ago I pirated Cyberpunk 2077 because I did not want to pay full price for a game that was infamous for not working. I bought it months later because I liked it. I pirated dozens of movies because all of the easily accessible distribution methods are protected by Widevine malware, and the alternative is to spend way too much on a Bluray for my disc collection that I also don't own, and then decrypt it using a pirate program, which is illegal. If they didn't make being a customer so difficult, I wouldn't have done any of that. The story is the same for nearly everyone else you're pointing the finger at. To blame piracy is to completely ignore the factors which encouraged it, which can be tamed by the company who released the software if they have any theory of mind.If you look up my Steam account today, I've spent thousands of dollars over the past decade on video games alone, and that's only on one store. Pirates are more than happy to pay for things that they want. If your game is being pirated, then that is something you are doing wrong.

@xianc78@gameliberty.club That is true for most consoles.Interestingly, the only consoles that Commodore Amiga released, the CDTV and CD32, tried this. It was really half assed though. They had an official licensing system, but anyone with the Amiga developer CD got the CDTV NDK included and could play burned CDs with it. They were just recycled A500 and A1200 computers with a new case and the floppy drive removed. The only thing stopping unlicensed releases was the rights to distribute a copy of the CDTV trademarks, similar to what Game Boy was doing... Which didn't do shit, because threat of litigation only really works on distributors trying to make a notable profit, not an average joe with a good job and a nice CD burner. I imagine it wasn't very well thought out because Commodore's main business model was to cut hardware costs, not sell at a loss and live off of software licensing.I don't know much about Atari, I think they tried to improve security after the 2600 but that doesn't exactly work if nobody's buying your machines to begin with.Either way, Sandy doesn't give very good examples.
