       I recently came across this chart for our total energy consumption in Germany for 2024 and the biggest circle is the red one for fuel in the transport column. 644 TWh 🤯 Only about 20% of the energy in fuel is converted into movement, the rest is wasted as heat. (80% of 644 TWh = 515 TWh)According to the Federal Environment Agency, all private households used 465 TWh to heat our homes in 2024. Let that (heat)sink in: We produce more excess heat by burning fuel than we need for heating.

       @MoritzGlantz @gerritvanaaken Ja klar, das ist natürlich auch überspitzt. Mir ging's hier eher darum, dass es weiterhin ein probabilistisches System bleibt. Für alle Upscaling Aufgaben, die rein kosmetisch sind ist es ja auch komplett egal. Aber wenn's um personen-bezogene Bilder geht kannst du halt auch mit jemandem enden, der doch deutlich anders aussieht. Das ist ein Problem, wenn man es wie in den Filmen für investigative Arbeit nimmt.

       Weiteres absurdes Beispiel, waren die Bilder von AI-demaskierten ICE Agenten, die Leute ernsthaft dafür verwendet haben, um deren Identitäten rauszufinden. Ich finde bei solchen Themen eher schwierig, dass es super viele Menschen gibt, die die Systeme nicht verstehen und ernsthaft glauben, dass das Ergebnis die Wahrheit darstellt.

       @MoritzGlantz Ja und jetzt stell dir mal anders rum vor, das macht jemand mit nem CCTV Shot und skaliert auf die Art Tatverdächtige hoch um dann nach ihnen zu suchen und plötzlich stehst du als Verdächtiger da, weil das Ergebnis zufällig so aussieht wie du, aber gar nicht mehr wie der ursprüngliche Täter. In dem Zusammenhang frag ich mich z.b. auch was es bedeutet, wenn man mehr Fotos von sich öffentlich im Netz hat.
