       @mitchconner @f0x what causes that?  there's this narrative floating around that women find men doing anything considerate or kind for them revolting.  I can understand it to an extent (actual kindness vs manipulative "niceness") but why do we see this pattern so often when things otherwise seem to be going well?

       @Morghur @mitchconner @f0x women have an interest in not allowing themselves to be gamed by men who aren't everything they claim to be, or don't actually intend to devote time and resources towards them and their kids.  that's what causes that kind of weird conflicting signaling-- her interest is to test you.  at least that's the current theory in evopsych.what I don't get is why it seems so often they'll let men do all this shit when they have no intention of giving them a chance from the start.  maybe it's just an ego thing, IDK

       @f0x @mitchconner @Morghur it's one of those things where gaming everything out constantly kinda takes the fun out of life.I can't really blame dudes who get burned by this kind of thing for being defensive though, especially when it seems like being considerate/kind/whatever very often actively drives women away.  Maybe it comes off as neediness, idk.I've always had a thousand times more success with women who I didn't really pursue.
