       worked with the tcpdump folks on an updated set of examples for the tcpdump man page https://www.tcpdump.org/manpages/tcpdump.1.html#lbAFthe idea is that if you've forgotten how tcpdump's basic flags work, you can find a quick reference in the man page!

       (the above happened because i realized at some point that even though diffie hellman key exchange _uses_ things like "elliptic curves" or "modular arithmetic" to work, you do not need to actually _understand_ those things to understand the basic idea, and I thought that was cool!)

       @tg recently I've been thinking about writing about how many of the "boring" parts of the internet (ip addresses, domain names, DNS, the cables under the ocean, the network routers, TLS certificates) have various kinds of corporate and/or national and/or nonprofit owners who interact with each other in complicated waysit opened up a lot of complicated questions about governance (for ICANN etc) that I didn't feel super well-equipped to answer but I think it would be cool to explore

       one thing that surprised me when moving away from Tailwind is that actually there were a lot of practices from Tailwind that I wanted to take with me into my new CSS codebase, and it helped me see how much I actually learned from using Tailwind about structuring CSS(2/?)

       something I always find frustrating about tailwind is that it often starts flamewars (tailwind is the best! tailwind is ruining everything!) and so I wanted to write about how I think it isn't right for me anymore but I'm grateful it was there for me and I learned something from using it(3/?)

       also I haven't managed to formulate my thoughts about this in the blog post yet, but part of why I wanted to move away from Tailwind was this post really stuck with me https://thoughtbot.com/blog/tailwind-and-the-femininity-of-css I think CSS is an incredible technology and that CSS experts are amazing. People devalue CSS all the time and it sucks. I see that happen all the time here in my replies to my CSS posts on Mastodon. I don't want to use something that contributes to the devaluing of CSS as a skill.(4/?)

       i've been trying out jj and one thing I struggle with is that my workspace feels very... messy? In Git often I have 20 semi-abandoned branches that I might come back to later in 6 months later if I want to.but in jj I don't know how to mark a change as "I don't need you to show this to me in `jj log` but I also don't want to abandon it"so far i've been using jj on a project for short bursts if I need to rebase a lot and then I go back to Git

       @shapr hm yeah that makes sense and it's cool you can do that but recently I'm moving more and more towards using tools that require 0 configuration (like fish, helix, etc) and I think I don't really have the patience for that kind of fiddling with configuration right nowi'm a bit jealous of people who can invent subcommands and workflows for themselves like this :)

       I've been trying to improve my French recently and I'm really appreciating this Quebec french dictionary https://usito.usherbrooke.ca/ it's amazing to be able to search for a slang term I hear and find it in the dictionary under (QC, fam), unlike with most French dictionaries which don't have any info about Quebec-specific terms
