       Just had my first egg coffee at a cafe with a very lovely waitress who (accurately) guessed that it was my first and politely explained how to drink it. Will leave her a good review when I have WiFi again. Coffee was excellent.The heavily smoking uncle next to me told me that you’d pay 7 USD for a drink line that in the USA. He then explained that he works in California and returns to Vietnam once a year to be with his wife. His second wife, that is, because the first died of cancer (I didn’t ask which kind) two years ago. His daughter works for the LAPD, which is a very good job, he says.Second wife didn’t seem thrilled that he was chatting with me.Lots to unpack here.        @cell haven’t seen those cups in a while! Remember that they were introduced in Singapore as a reusable alternative to the standard take away cup, but it seems like it didn’t catch on, b/c I didn’t see them last week. In fairness: I did reuse mine, but only at home.

       @cell tbf: there are so many doors that have a sign on them that says “please keep this door closed at all times”, yet you *are* supposed to open it. They just want you to immediately close it behind you. And then there are the pages with the text “this page is intentionally left blank”.In the face of all of that anarchy, I probably would choose violence also and poke that straw in.In related news: I was confronted with a sign that said something like “please don’t stand on the floor” today. Not sure what I was supposed to do with that, while I’d been standing and walking on the floor for an hour already. I took a picture, but clearly not very well…
