       For me, diapers would be both mildly useful and something that, while I'm not into on their own, could integrate into other kinks that I do have. The problem is that the desire is a bit too low to overcome the embarrassment, and also they're a bit too spendy

       @Rairii@labyrinth.zone This definitely enforces my overall opinion on encryption, which is that some things certainly should be encrypted, but everything shouldn't be, especially if you don't have a good understanding of how encryption works

       In alphabetical order:Alfa (they/them): I'm nonbinary, and a bit of an extrovert, or at least less of an introvert than the rest of the system.  I'm an ace dom and I really like helping people feel happier. I'm probably the best in the system at taking care of others and one of the worst at taking care of myself or accepting care from others. Echo (it/that one): This one is a doll. It is sufficiently dollified that its psychology is no longer human. Alfa finds that aspect of it interesting. It may at some point be given a different personality, if its controller wishes. If entities are interested in talking to it, they are welcome to ask. It is very obedient.November/Nova (she/her): I'm usually the main fronter, but I guess Alfa fronts a lot too. I have kinda a lot of mental health problems, and I'm a catgirl. Meow. I'm apparently pretty subby. I'm also quite nerdy about space and computer hardware, and yeah.Sierra (she/her): hi, uh, i'm age-regressed, please don't be mad at me for that. I guess I get scared kinda easily. I think i'm like 8, but the body is a lot older and stuff. I like plushies and I love my mom (not my biomom though).Distinguishing us in writing: We sometimes will start our posts with a letter to indicate who's speaking, if we don't: Echo doesn't use first-person pronouns, and Sierra usually will CW posts with age regression, and if not her writing style is quite distinct. As for telling Alfa and Nova apart, if we're being dommy, it's Alfa, if we're being subby or hating ourselves, it's Nova, if we're not doing one of those three things it could probably be either of us, but our views on the rest of the world are fairly similar, so, like, it doesn't matter that much.

       @rail@social.flufftech.net I've been watching here and there video essays of someone rewriting them to be better, and like there's a lot of stuff wrong with them. One of the things he fixed in the first book was the message that crying is shameful. In a book for 12-year-olds. And also just trying to make the side characters actually do anything that matters. Honestly thinking about it more it kinda reminds me of bad isekai.Honestly I think success comes down mostly to them being the first books that were at all like this (Staring kids, adults mostly irrelevant, you get to run away from your shitty life and it turns out you have magic powers). At this point there are a lot of other books that achieve something like that, but there weren't in the 90's. Also it's like the only significant cultural export of Britain since the Beatles, if you don't count all that really good 70's music because that was too busy criticizing Thatcher to talk about how great and perfect and wonderful the UK is. Which I imagine led to a bit more promotion, as well.

       So, I'm going to be getting a laptop to put Linux on in probably about two months, and I'm starting to think about what sort of distro I might want to run on it, just so I can start figuring things out in a VM. Plan is to run some sort of River-based tiling WM, not sure which yet. Hard requirements:-I need to be able to game on it easily and without doing everything via flatpak (so basically has to be glibc)-I'm still not super experienced with Linux, so in terms of setup and especially maintenance it needs to be at most as hard as Arch.-Full disc encryption and non-systemd are required, but doing stuff in a chroot to get them set up is okayPreferences:Good docsNot having to do a chroot install for full disc encryption and avoiding systemdNot having to uninstall whatever DE it ships withHigh stabilityThe less required flatpak use, the betterCurrently my main thought is Void, I've used it before and I like it, but let me know if there are any other cool distros I'm missing that'd be good to consider. #LinuxCurrent thoughts:Void - Pretty easy, I have experience with it, works pretty well. Encryption looks kinda hard to set up, though.Gentoo - Looks cool but might be too hard for meDebian - The boring, reliable option. Currently running it on my desktop, it's fine, but Void seems better.

       This seems to be converging om my initial thoughts of just go with Void, but now I'm more confident I'm not missing anything
